We had a long lie today… until like 8am! Exciting huh! Today is our last day, we had to make sure we were packed up before breakfast and ready to check out and make use of our last few hours in Moz!

Me and Jess took our last selfie as roomies and put our cases into storage for the day.
We went on a tour around Maputo in the cars where we went to the market, little cool museum like places, the train station, and lunch!
As it was our last lunch together we made sure to make the most of it – Discussing our best interviews, our hardest interviews, our best days and our hardest laughs. Every single person spoke with such passion and enthusiasm about their experience. It still didn’t feel real. I have been here for a week, I had done my job, the interviews, I had seen the sights. But it was still all so surreal.
Heading from lunch we picked up our cases, said a final farewell to Zeus – our furry friend for the week – then left for the airport

Arriving to Maputo, we got in the last of our ‘147’ jams, arriving to the airport singing ‘Time of my life’, we said our goodbyes to Laure and Ari. Laure called me her favourite Scottish person (I dont know how many Scottish people she knows exactly.. but ill take it!).
If you ever want to see someone annoyed in an airport – go on a trip with Yvonne! Seriously, I think everyone should experience that level of sass. But as stated on the way to Maputo – she has a valid point. We took our final selfie boarding the plane together before heading to joberg.

Landing in Johannesburg airport, Team Mozambique gathered to say goodbye before going our separate ways. Having one last bonding moment (taking another little piece of our hearts with us) we all said our goodbyes. Squeezing each other tightly before heading to our own boarding gates. It was emotional but miraculously no tears were shed!
Spending a couple of hours in the airport, we went to visit the goodbye malaria stall. Seriously – if you are ever in Johannesburg airport pay a visit here!
Team UK took our final selfie in Africa before boarding our flight to London! The journey back to Glasgow would be long, but even if I had to face 10x the travelling I would do the trip again in a heartbeat.

When we landed in London me, Nigel and Jess parted ways, they two going home whilst I went onwards to wait at the gate for my final and last flight.
I couldn’t have picked two better people to do this journey with, every single moment was so memorable and every single day was one that will not be forgotten. Team UK – WE DID IT!

The first picture is my face on the flight to London… after being awake over 25 hours and travelling 18 of those!
The flight from London to Glasgow was empty and with a row to myself I put my feet up and reminisced on my week. Touching down in Glasgow I just wanted to get home and see my family to tell them everything.
Think the most excited I felt was when Shawnie met me at the airport.. with a bottle of irn bru.. typical Scot eh!
Now home for a long and well deserved nap.
Still not registering that I have been on the trip my mind is blown. Reading back on this blog and looking back on the photos I am in a constant state of awe. Honestly a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you Nando’s.
To everyone on the trip I thank you for making it an unforgettable experience. Nando’s isnt just a family that stops at the restaurant doors. It is all over the world, its values comes from its roots. It will probably take me a while to upload this to make sure I try and do this experience justice… but honestly – words can not put into words how this experience has made me feel and changed me.
